Starbucks Corporation is a multinational chain of coffeehouses. A Starbucks is situated at the Animorphs' local mall.

History

"But as we got near Starbucks, I spotted him. He was standing patiently in line. [...] The Starbucks guy handed Ax a paper cup. Ax took it. He looked around to see what other people were doing. Like them, he put a lid on his cup. Then, still mimicking the others, he attempted to drink."

A Starbucks was located inside the mall of the Animorphs' city. In 1997, Jake, Marco and Ax visited the mall in order to acquire parts from Radio Shack. However, upon entering the mall, Ax was overwhelmed by the sense of smell and ran towards the escalator. Arriving on the second floor, Ax made his way to Starbucks and noticed that people were standing in line. Ax then joined the line and waited patiently, and overheard the person in front of him order a double latte. When it was his turn to order, Ax asked for a double latte as well, and the clerk asked if he wanted caff or decaff. Confused, Ax repeated the word "Caff" a few times, and the clerk told him that his total was $2.95. Jake and Marco then caught up with Ax and Jake gave the clerk three dollars to pay for Ax's latte as Marco manuevered Ax to the pick-up counter, where Ax was given his double latte. Noticing the other customers putting lids on their drinks, Ax did the same, and the trio left Starbucks.

Trivia

• Starbucks was the first food/drink establishment that Ax visited on Earth. The Starbucks double latte was the first human drink he had ever tasted, as well as the first thing he had ever tasted at all his human morph.
• In the original version of The Predator, released in 1996, Ax's double latte from Starbucks costs $2.95. In the reprint, released in 2011, the price of Ax's double latte is increased to $3.55.
• Jake refer to Starbucks as "the coffee place" in the original version. This is removed in the 2011 reprint due to the surging popularity of Starbucks by that time, rendering the additional explanation irrelevant.
