Jara Hamee was the first Hork-Bajir to be permanently freed from Yeerk control, and was the husband of Ket Halpak and the father of Toby Hamee. He was freed in 1997 by Tobias and became a founding member of Earth's free Hork-Bajir colony. Three years later, Jara joined the final battle of the Andalite-Human-Yeerk War, where he was killed in battle.

Jara Hamee is the only known child of Seerow Hamee, and is also the grandson of Dak Hamee and Aldrea-Iskillion-Falan. After being brought to Earth, Jara Hamee married Ket Halpak, and they were the first two Hork-Bajir to escape Yeerk captivity. The pair later had a daughter named Toby Hamee and a son. Jara died in the final battle against the Yeerks.[2]
Acquired by the Animorphs[]
Jara Hamee was the template for the Hork-Bajir morph possessed by three of the six Animorphs. In 1997, Jara Hamee was acquired by Rachel. About a year or so later, Jara was acquired by Ax. In 1999, Jara was acquired by Cassie, serving as the first of her two Hork-Bajir morphs. As a result, those three Animorphs have slightly different Jara morphs since they acquired him at different ages.
